Microsoft App-V - Application Virtualization

This 3-day workshop is an in-depth Application Virtualization overview, focused on preparing application packages for virtualization – a so-called ‘sequencing’. Application Virtualization is a great way to provide user with application they need, whenever they need, and on any PC they are working on. App-V is no longer a client-only solution – with recent updates, we can provide virtualized servers with server App-V – allowing us to deliver virtualized solution even faster and with greater control than ever before. However, this technology has some limitations. During this course, we will focus both on the technical possibilities and business feasibility of App-V deployment in Enterprise environments, covering both the features and limitations of this technology.

During this course, we will cover App-V Infrastructure – both stand-alone and SCCM integrated, then move on to application packaging and streaming itself, performing numerous case studies – from the most basic ones, to advanced topics like standard application deployment with dependencies, dynamic application configuration, auto-updates and so on. Application sequencing is the most troublesome part of App-V, so apart from sequencing itself, we will also talk about common application designs, places to look for application files and users data, monitoring application behavior using dedicated tools, and common developers mistakes that could pose a problem to unaware automatic application sequencer. This will lead to App-V limits and ways to overcome them. We will also spend some time on App-V client – deploying, pre-caching, working in offline mode, and application delivery.
