Expertseminarium: An In-Depth Look at Developer Features and Performance in SQL Server 2012 with Bob Beauchemin

SQL Server 2012 includes many features to allow database developers to improve performance, make writing T-SQL queries and procedures easier, and make using SQL Server possible with new scenarios. This two day-long seminar will cover not only the technical aspects and internals of new and improved features, but also the use cases that SQL Server 2012 features will improve. The target audience is the experienced database developer who may be familiar with the new features of SQL 2012, but want to learn how to best use them and understand their implications. On the first day, we'll concentrate on using the additional functionality to improve your code's reliability and performance, describing the internal changes that make this possible. Additional diagnostics using extended events will allow greater transparency and assist in problem solving. There are also new tools available to assist in developing, deploying, and testing database code, as well as a new type of portable database to isolate developers from instance-based options to make moving an application easier. From there we'll move on to look into some features for developing applications for non-traditional data include using file-database integration, text and semantic querying, and inclusion of spatial data in the SQL Server. This seminar goes beyond enumerating features with a few simple examples, to allow you to look into the features' internal implementation and how they improve and enhance your development toolbox.
